Since 2018, Imagicario has dedicated itself to the production of large-format puppet shows intended for public places. As both scenic artists, puppeteers and stilt walkers, our approach focuses on creating puppets with organic movements, inspired by a fictive biodiversity.

Helijalder Capristano Flores

Artistic director

Multidisciplinary artist of Peruvian origin, he has accumulated more than 15 years of experience in artistic creation. He trained in men's artistic gymnastics with the Peruvian Gymnastics Federation and began his artistic career in a street theater troupe, handling giant puppets. There he acquired a solid training in physical theater for unconventional spaces and in the handling of stilts. Attracted by a visual theater using as little speech as possible, he continues his research as an actor training rigorously with Ricardo Santa Cruz according to a training combining concepts of Eugenio Barba, Grotozsky and oriental theater.

At the same time, he developed an interest in both puppets and shadow theater. He became co-founder of the El Cantar del Carabo troupe with which he created 3 professional shadow theater shows. In 2007, he continued his research in puppet and shadow theater in Buenos Aires. Then, in 2010, he founded a scenography company, Caballo Blanco, which led him to collaborate with many production houses and professional theaters.

As a street artist, he created several characters that he had the opportunity to present in various South American and Quebec contexts and festivals. Established in Montreal since 2014, he is looking for different Canadian and international artistic experiences. He continued his training at the Théâtre de la dame de cœur and took part with his characters in several Quebec events.

He loves longboarding, hot sauce and summer ...

Laetitia Bérubé Canniccioni

Production Director

Before getting involved in the world of puppets, Laetitia completed studies in architectural technology where she developed her skills in design, drawing, geometry, creation, use of spaces, lighting and project management. She is particularly interested in the way of inhabiting spaces, the impact of the environment on people and psychosociology.

In 2017, she joined the experienced artist Helijalder Capristano to create a street theater company (Imagicario) dedicated to the realization of contemporary multi-format puppets. Together, they create the puppets Ginka and Les Kakous (in progress). Projects in which Laetitia participates as designer, technician, director and performer.

As a emerging puppet artist and with her particular architectural background, her approach focuses on the use of space in urban performances and on the creation of collective experience. How do we react when our daily environment suddenly changes with the arrival of an incongruous character? How are the new social rules put in place? How do we position ourselves to face this unforeseen encounter? These are questions that she explores through the play between the puppet and the audience, through the way the puppet inhabit the space and expresses itself.

In addition to being involved in the design of puppets, she trains regularly on stilts and follows training in puppet manipulation in order to refine her role as a performer. She has 2 years of university study in psychology and a professional certificate in cultural entrepreneurship. In just one year, she brought the achievements of imagicario to more than 90 performances in twenty recognized events from 4 different countries on 3 continents (International Festival of Puppetry Arts in Saguenay, Festin de los munecos (Mexico) , Puppets in the street, Intrnational Puppet Festival (Croatia).

She loves brunches, her dog Gaston and traveling ...
